"Let's go to the Pokémart to stock up on items." Charmander and Truf walked to it. "Hi, there. Would you like some items?" asked a man. "Yes, I'd like 5 pokéballs, 3 antidotes, and a paralyze heal, and a burn heal." answered Truf. "Okay, here you go." said the man. Truf and Charmander walked out of the Pokémart. "I have a good feeling that we will find some pokemon today." said Truf. "Char char!"

"Mmmmmm... I wonder where we are now?" said Truf. "We are on Route 2." said Truf looking at his map. "Char char mander." "What is it Charmander?" Truf looked around. "Hey look a Caterpie! Go Charmander." Charmander prepared for an attack. "Charmander use Scratch." Charmander scratches Caterpie. Caterpie faints. "Oh no!" Truf looks at Caterpie and says "Look its sleeping. It will wake up soon. Oh well, better leave it alone. Let's go Charmander." Charmander felt bad because he couldn't help Truf capture any pokemon. "Let's go back to Viridian City and fight the gym leader to earn a badge.. I bet we can win."

Truf and Charmander walked to the Pokemon Gym. "Hey! You can't go in. Our gym leader isn't here." said a man. "Why not?!" asked Truf. "He's away on official business. Come back in a while." Truf sighed. "Oh well, I'll come back some other time." It was not long before they reached Viridian Forest. After walking for 2 hours they decided to take a break after another 30 more minutes of walking. "Hey kid!" someone shouted. "Huh?" said Truf. "Let's battle!" the person said. "I'm Julie, the Bug Catcher. I challenge you to a battle. First, what is your name?" "I'm Truffe. Okay let's battle." replied Truf. Secretly Truf was happy to battle because Charmander was a strong pokemon compared to the pokemon in the area.

"I choose you Weedle!" said the girl. "Okay, go Charmander." said Truf. "Charmander, Ember!" Charmander uses Ember and hits Weedle. Weedle is hurt but doesn't faint. "Huh? How come your Weedle didn't faint? Usually Charmander makes a Pokemon faint with one hit." "Trainers have stronger pokemon than those in the wild. You're a beginner aren't you?" said Julie. Truf looked embarrassed. "Weedle, Poison Sting!" said the girl. Weedle hits Charmander and he becomes poisoned. "Charmander, are you okay?!" asks Truf. "Oh no! Charmander here's some antidote." Truf takes the antidote and Charmander drinks it. "Weedle use String Shot!" Charmander gets wrapped in string. "Oh no!" says Truf. "Okay, Weedle finish him off!" Charmander wiggles and tries to free himself. Weedle suddenly starts glowing. "Oh no!" says Julie. "It's evolving!" Weedle evolves into Kakuna. "Wow! I've never seen anything like this!" says Truf. "That's the third weedle that has evolved on me." says the girl. "Let's call this one a draw." says Truf. "Don't worry, you're Kakuna will soon evolve into a Beedrill." "Okay, I'll have to finish this battle some other time." replies Julie. Truf unwraps Charmander.

"Charmander, we thought we were so strong. I guess that you can never be too strong." says Truf. "Char charmander (yup)." Suddenly a yellow pokemon comes out and shocks them. "Loo-okk! A-aaaa Pika----chu!" Truf says while being shocked. "And it looks pretty strong." "Cha------arr ma-----nder (and feels strong too)" replies Charmander. "Do you want to fight?" "Piika!" Pikachu says while nodding his head.
