Truf got back up and brushed dirt off himself. "I'm not riding on this bike," he said. Truf took out his computer and stored his bike in it and started walking. "When I get to Cerulean City, I'll challenge Misty to a battle and I'll earn a Cascade Badge," Truf said while envisioning his win. "Maybe I'll even buy a new bike," he said.

"I choose you Staryu," said Misty. "I choose you Pikachu!" said Truf. "Oh no, an electric pokémon; you are a wise trainer," said Misty. "Staryu, Water Gun," she said. The water hits Pikachu and Pikachu enjoys the cool splash of water. "Pikachu, Thundershock," said Truf. Pikachu shocks Staryu and Staryu faints. "I choose you Starmie," said Misty. "Pikachu, use Swift," said Truf. Stars come out from Pikachu and Starmie faints. Misty gives Truf the Cascade Badge. Truf jumps up and down with joy and starts laughing.

While dreaming Truf doesn't realize Reve and Sonador are behind him. Reve sticks her finger in Truf's dream balloon and seems to pop it. "Hey!" says Truf. "You came out of the cave, even though you failed the test," says Reve shaking her head, sadly. "You are in trouble now, Truf," said Sonador sadly also. "How did you know my name," asked Truf. Reve and Sonador started walking away. Truf was glad they didn't bother him any longer.

Truf walked on Route 4 on spotted a patch of tall grass. "If Pikachu and Charmander are awake I could capture some pokemon," he said. Truf took out his pokeballs and tapped them. "I wonder what pokemon, there are in the grass," said Truf. "Charmander is a good pokemon to use against Sandshrew, because Pikachu is weak against ground pokemon," said Truf, thinking it over. "I call you, Charmander!" Charmander came out of the ball, but was sleeping in a curled position. Truf looked upset. "That's okay, I call you Pikachu!" Pikachu came out of the pokeball and was sleeping also. Now, Truf was very upset. It looked as if he was about to have a temper tantrum. "This is the worst day of my life," he said.

"Stop your whining!" yelled a boy. "So you had a bad day, do you know how much worse things could be?" "Geez, I didn't think of it that way, sorry" said Truf. "Anyway, I'm going to challenge you to a match, and I'm going to win" said the boy. "I wouldn't be so sure of that," replied Truf. Truf remembered that his pokemon were asleep. "We can fight later, my pokemon are sleeping," said Truf. "Okay," replied the boy. "I was on my way to challenge the newcomer in town, and I want to build up my pokemon. They at a pretty high level right now, but it never hurts to have them a little higher."

"Who's the newcomer," asked Truf. "Oh, we don't know who this newcomer is, but his pokemon are very tough," said the boy. "I think his name is Cham," said the boy. "Oh yeah, what is your name," asked Truf. "I'm Dell," he said. "I'm Truf," said Truf.

"I've been looking to fight other trainers, but there aren't many around here," said Dell. My last fight was at Mount Moon. The fought the trainer Sonador. I won easily. Sonador was in a good mood that day, and he didn't use his toughest pokemon. His sister Reve was on business so I only had to fight one trainer. He warned me about Cham. He said that Cham was a newcomer to town who is going to cause trouble. He also said that if Cham would leave if he was defeated. Many have challenged him, but none have won. Sonador doesn't let anybody pass he doesn't think is good enough to stand a chance against Cham. I've heard that if a trainer isn't training the pokemon to its full potential, then he steals them. I think that Cham is related to Team Rocket, in some way."

Truf finally understood why Sonador and Reve treated him like they did. Truf still didn't understand why Reve and Sonador had to bring out their toughest pokemon. "I could have won!" he exclaimed out loud. "Won what," asked Dell. "Nothing," replied Truf embarrassed. "Let's go challenge Cham together," said Dell. "Alright, let's go," replied Truf.
