Truf pushed along. The skateboard went faster. "Whoaaaaaaaaa!" yelped Truf. "Chaaaaar mander! (Come back)." He was going dangerously fast. He lost his balance and started to fall. He made a loud thump-like sound. "Good thing the ground broke my fall." Truf said sarcastically to Charmander. He decided to walk the rest of the way to the Pokemon Center.

"Hi, everyone. I'm Truffe, Truf for short. Does anyone have any idea of how to get to Pewter City quickly?" asked Truf. "Hey Truf!" said Gary. Wacky music sounded from nowhere. Gary! What the heck is he doing here?, thought Truf. "I'll give you a ride in my car." said Gary. Hmmmmm.... thought Truf. "No thanks, I hate to have you drive me all the way back." Gary is so stuck up I would not have anything to do with him. "Oh well, I was just about to leave. Smell ya later." Gary replied. The music came back and played until Gary left the center.

"Hey, I'm heading back to Pallet Town. I'll take you there." said a girl. "Sure" said Truf. "I'm Acala, my Spearow can fly us there." said the girl. "I'm heading to Profesor Oak's Lab to listen to a lecture on how to catch more pokemon." They went outside and got on Spearow. "I'm a little afraid of heights." said Truf. "Are you afraid Charmander?" "Char char (no way!)" Spearow took off and things started to look smaller. This trip reminded him of the time when he flew over to Celadon City and to other places on the Pidgeot Express.

"Here we are!" said Acala. "Already! That's fast!" replied Truf. "Let's go to the lab." said Acala. "I'll be a moment." replied Truf. Profesor Oak's Lab brought back memories. Gary and his friends tricked him and got to the starting pokemon before he could, so he didn't get one. Even the Pikachu was gone. Truf went in. "Oh, hi Truffe" said Prof. Oak. "I'm glad to see you got a pokemon. I was so worried that you couldn't get one. And its a Charmander! The one you wanted. You've arrived just in time to see the lecture I'm going to give on pokémon." Many pokémon trainers came and the room became filled.

"First, to catch a pokemon you must weaken it. You can only capture wild pokémon."

"Second, different pokeballs have different strengths. There are pokeballs, great balls, ultra balls, safari balls, and the masterball. You can purchase these at Pokémarts. The safari ball is found only at the Safari Zone and there is only one Masterball which is possessed by Giovanni."

"Last is to make sure you have the right level pokémon to fight the wild pokémon. If it is too weak it will lose and if it is too strong it will make the wild pokémon faint."

"Good luck on your journey." Prof. Oak said to the large group.

"Wait! Truffe stay, I want to talk to you." said Prof. Oak. The large group of people squeezed past Truf. "What is it, Profesor?" said Truf. "Oh I wanted to know how you were doing?" said Prof. Oak. "Oh I'm fine and so is my charmander." replied Truf. "Here are some pokeballs. You still have your pokédex, right?" said Prof. Oak. "Of course I do, thanks for the pokéballs." replied Truf. Truf and Charmander walked out of the lab.
